Day 4

na·ture | ˈneɪtʃə

1. the phenomena of the physical world collectively, including plants, animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the earth, as opposed to humans or human creations.
2. the basic or inherent features, character, or qualities of something.

Welcome to the fourth and final day of my ‘Behind The Song’ short film series. We live in extraordinary times. Yet our concern with our human natures still far outweighs our concern for the world we live in. My album and these films are case in point. But can’t we decide how we respond to our natures rather than be bound to societies judgement? ‘The Void’ asks what if we could let our insanity be as much a handholding experience as romance is sold to be in the media? And ‘Blew Away’ asks what if we could surrender to change as easily as the wind changes?

Strangely (or perhaps it was serendipity) while working on these songs I met some key people that reminded me of how our fractured relationship with nature herself could do with equal scrutiny. Which begs the question; how would we treat the planet if we afforded, not just people but the animals, the oceans and the forests the same privilege to just be. ‘Clean’, the final track on the album is a cry for this change.

I’d love to hear your thoughts and feelings in the comments section at the bottom of this page.
Thank you for sharing this journey ‘Behind The Songs’ with me.
